'Idol' Season 9: Where are they now?
By Lindsay Deutsch, USA TODAY
Season 10 of American Idol is history, which makes this an appropriate time to check back in with the Idol finalists of Season 9. What have they been doing, where are they headed, what kind of music are they making -- and are they selling any of it?
USA TODAY tracked down final 12 of the Class of 2010, from winner Lee DeWyze and runnerup Crystal Bowersox, to last year's first-eliminated, Lacey Brown. What she found:
-- Despite disappointing sales, DeWyze has few regrets about his first album, Live It Up. "It was really quick, and if I could go back in time and maybe rework things I would, but I think that's part of the experience, giving it your first college try on a major label."
-- Bowersox has gotten married, has been spending time on the road, and hopes to move to Nashville. "Maybe I'll have my own studio one day. Maybe I'll have my own label one day. I just want to do this for the rest of my life."
-- Casey James, who like Bowersox will appear next weekend at CMA Music Fest in Nashville, has signed with Sony Nashville and plans to play guitar on every track of his first album.
-- And "Big Mike" Lynche, with his wife and young daughter, are filming a reality show about life after Idol.
