Gwen Stefani admitted she and husband Gavin Rossdale don't have a picture-perfect marriage.

Underneath it all, Gwen Stefani says she and her husband, Gavin Rossdale, are just like any other couple who have had ups and downs.

Interviewed by Garbage singer and friend Shirley Manson for Elle UK's April issue, Stefani, 41, opened up about her relationship with the rocker, 45, and her day-to-day efforts to feel comfortable in her own skin.

"I've been with Gavin for 14 years, and, let's face it, that is a huge accomplishment," she told Manson. "I feel so proud of that -- it hasn't been the easiest journey."

The No Doubt frontwoman, who has two sons - Kingston, 4, and Zuma, 2 - with Rossdale, revealed that maintaining her post-baby body is "a daily struggle."

"I work out five days a week," she said. "I can't imagine not doing it."

"I'd like to have no rules and eat what I want, but I've learned over the years that I'm so disappointed when I can't wear the clothes I want to wear," said the star, who launched her own fashion label, L.A.M.B., in 2003.

"And if I let myself down, appear on stage when I'm not looking my best, it's not fun for me," Stefani added. "I just beat myself up about it."

Even when she's not hitting the stage, the Grammy winner said she makes sure to start her day with a solid foundation.

"I wear makeup every single day," she said. "I like to wear makeup for Gavin, and I don't feel energized till I've put it on. Then I'm ready to go."
