Natalie Portman blindsided the entertainment world on Monday when she announced that she was both engaged and pregnant. The lucky man is choreographer Benjamin Millepied, the accomplished French dancer who trained Portman for her role as a ballerina in Black Swan. (Also, he dances with her in the film. And also, he's gorgeous.) We're very happy for the couple, but we're still shocked by the announcement. How in the world did they manage to hide their relationship and the baby news from the gossip-hungry public?
First of all, Portman had to contend with the tabloids, which make a point to scrutinize every female celebrity's stomach and weight at all times. And as if that weren't enough, she and her fiance have both been promoting Black Swan for months now, including tons of red-carpet appearances and high-profile interviews. Granted, their relationship wasn't a total secret: since they met in 2009 (and Millepied abruptly broke up with his longtime girlfriend), they have been photographed on dates and spoken a little too sweetly about their working relationship. But when Black Swan promotion kicked into high gear, the pair seemed to go their separate ways, avoiding each other at events and after-parties. Most of us assumed that the relationship had fizzled. Little did we know that Natalie Portman had left her engagement ring at home! As for the baby bump, it appears that she concealed it with a wardrobe of drapey, high-waisted evening gowns. But we suspect that nature is on her side, too; if the small-framed actress had significant bulge to conceal, the dresses wouldn't have worked. It's possible that she's very early in her pregnancy and just wanted to curb the media speculation outright. In her one brief statement to the press, the actress said, “I have always kept my private life private but I will say that I am indescribably happy and feel very grateful to have this experience." Which is much more polite than what she could have said: "Nyah nyah nyah, I sure outsmarted you!" But now that the secret's out, we can all go on to speculate on more important things -- like, what will she wear to the Oscars? Are you surprised that Natalie Portman was able to hide her pregnancy? Leonardo DiCaprio spent Sunday afternoon leisurely taking part in a guided tour at the LA County Museum of Art. He's been relaxing at home and catching up with his beloved Lakers before award season gets underway. He's been overlooked so far in the best actor categories for his role in Shutter Island and Inception, though the philanthropic actor ranks high among your favorite male celebrities of 2010. He can also feel confident knowing he tops the Forbes list of top-grossing actors this year by raking in more than $1.1 billion dollars globally at the box office.

Gaga poses for pictures in the streets of Paris after show cancellation, but one fan may have gotten fresh.

After canceling her show in Paris over the weekend due to stormy weather, Lady Gaga showed her little monsters some love on the streets of the City of Light. Gaga, dressed in a beige, low-cut Victorian-style gown and sporting a beehive and John Lennon-esque sunglasses, emerged on the streets of Paris on Monday to greet screaming fans.
The singer posed for pictures, and one fan even got close enough to touch the singer. In a series of photos, the fan, dressed in a white parka and beige knit hat, scarf and gloves, stopped the singer for a hug before accidentally touching Gaga's breast. The grope took place as the singer was walking away from the encounter.
Gaga has been abroad for a slew of dates on her never-ending Monster Ball Tour. She joined Semi Precious Weapons onstage for one of their club gigs in London. She even gave a sneak preview of her forthcoming Born This Way album, which is set for release in early 2011.
"Want to hear 'You and I'? This one is going to be on Born This Way. It's one of my favorites. The album doesn't have a bunch of rock ballads or anything, but this is one of them," she told the crowd at a show in London.
"Now, I don't know if you know this, but for those of you who don't know, I write all my own music. Every single lyric, melody and note was created by me. I am not manufactured. I'm a bad cat and coming for you 'cause I believe in you and I. It's not that I don't like to be humble, it's just that pop music has a pretty bad rap," Gaga explained.

Glam rocker tackled the legendary 1970 Led Zeppelin song for 'American Idol' rock night.

Imagine a freight train speeding toward you at midnight. Or a rockslide barreling down a hill as you try to outrace it. That's the feeling of the ominous, chugging Jimmy Page riff that kicks off Led Zeppelin's 1970 Stonehenge of rock, "Whole Lotta Love." And that's before singer Robert Plant leans into one of the nastiest, ecstatic rock screams this side of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again."
That's the song Adam Lambert chose to sing on "American Idol" rock night Tuesday (May 5), and, needless to say, it was a challenge that the eyeliner-loving Los Angeles stage veteran was more than up for, hitting a series of high notes and rock screams that would have made Plant proud. It was a risky maneuver that paid off for Lambert, who chose a tune that came in at #75 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2004.
The legendary British rock act recorded the tribute to Chicago blues icon Willie Dixon during their second U.S. tour after working it out in their live show, including it on their 1969 classic album Led Zeppelin II. Like many of the songs Zeppelin performed early in their career, "Love" was a blues standard turned on its head with a heavy dose of crunching psychedelic guitar and thundering drums, courtesy of late drummer John Bonham. The song was based on a 1962 tune by another blues forefather, Muddy Waters, called "You Need Love," which was penned by Dixon.
For Zeppelin's version, Plant customized the lyrics by adding some lyrical quotes from a few other songs Dixon wrote for Howlin' Wolf, "Back Door Man" and "Shake For Me," nailing the tricky vocal in a single take. It was also inspired by 1966's "You Need Loving" from the British rock group the Small Faces, for whom Zeppelin had great affection, but they also did not credit Dixon for his part in writing the original lyrics. The song became Zeppelin's first U.S. single and their only U.S. top 10 hit. Though their manager would not let them release singles in the U.K. because he thought it cannibalized album sales, the song was finally released as the band's only British single in 1997.
Dixon sued Zeppelin over the song in 1985, claiming it borrowed too heavily from his "You Need Love," and Zeppelin reached an agreement with him, with Dixon using the money he received to set up a program that provided musical instruments for schools. A cornerstone of heavy rock, the tune -- which was the theme song for the long-running British countdown show "Top of the Pops" in the 1970s and '80s -- has been covered by dozens of artists over the years, from Tina Turner and Ben Harper to Prince, Slash, Leona Lewis, Train's Pat Monahan, the London Symphony Orchestra and Jane's Addiction.
