Celebrities Tweet Thoughts, Prayers to Tsunami Victims

Following a level 8.9 earthquake in northern Japan today, areas around that country are in danger, as a tsunami sweeps through the Pacific Ocean.

With victims piling up, a few celebrities have been caught in the wake of the natural disaster - Jimmy Kimmel was evacuated from a small island in French Polynesia, while Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart were also evacuated from a beach in Vancouver - and others have Tweeted out thoughts/prayers.

A sampling:

'Crazed stalker' arrested at Charlie Sheen's house

Police were at Charlie Sheen's house Thursday to conduct a raid and later arrest a trespasser.

VanStory for News

Police were at Charlie Sheen's house Thursday to conduct a raid and later arrest a trespasser.

The Los Angeles Police Department wasn't the only unexpected visitor to Charlie Sheen's mansion Thursday night.

After the cops raided his Mulholland Estate abode in search of firearms, an alleged trespasser gained access to the property.

According to RadarOnline.com, 26-year-old David Pack from Kansas City, Kan., was apprehended by security.

"Things had returned to normal after the police attended Charlie's home when this 'crazed stalker' was discovered in the backyard," a source said.

"It shook everyone up," the source added.

A video posted on the gossip site shows Pack in the back of a police car.

Pack was booked at a Van Nuys, Calif., jail with bail set at $1,000, according to a police report obtained by Radar.

The suspect's father, David Pack Sr., told the site that the younger Pack drove to Los Angeles earlier this week with his twin, Jason.

"They drove non-stop from Kansas as David believed that Sheen has been persecuted," the dad explained, "and he wanted to talk with him over plans for a different show."

David Pack Sr. insisted his son "is not a bad person" and "did not mean Charlie Sheen any harm."

He added that David Pack Jr. is unemployed and "has been prescribed Adderall in the past to deal with ADHD."

"I think that Charlie Sheen should bail my son out because he is a fan and not a stalker who got caught up in this whole media frenzy," he said.

San Francisco Coyotes: Welcome Wildlife Or Dangerous Menance?

SAN FRANCISCO -- Armed with a camera and a sturdy pair of boots, Janet Kessler spends most of her days roaming through lush parklands in pursuit of some of San Francisco's most unlikely inhabitants ? the city's increasingly visible population of coyotes.

"They are my passion," said Kessler, a 35-year San Francisco resident who has been observing and photographing coyotes in four city parks. "It's this contradiction of an urban, settled environment and wild animals, and I find it thrilling."

Wildlife researchers estimate that about a dozen coyotes live in San Francisco, with the first sighting in decades reported in 2001 in the Presidio, a federal park and residential neighborhood located on the city's northern tip.

The coyotes' ability to adapt to life in the country's second-most densely populated major city has intrigued experts and provoked even far-fetched theories about how they came to set up residence in a city surrounded by water on three sides.

Although some view the coyotes as a hazard to pets and children, many residents have welcomed their presence, even when they stray boldly onto the streets.

"In recent years, we've had hawks, owls, coyotes return to this area, and it's good to see wildlife coming back," said John Wilk, who lives in the Diamond Heights neighborhood adjacent to Glen Canyon Park, one of the most well-known coyote habitats. Wilk said he's had four coyote sightings on local streets and in the parking lot of the Safeway supermarket near his home.

San Francisco filmmaker Melissa Peabody was inspired to make a documentary about the coyotes after reading about one that had taken up residence a block from her house, on Bernal Hill, a 24-acre patch of native grassland bounded by residential neighborhoods. Her 2008 film, "San Francisco ? Still Wild at Heart," examines how coyotes impact urban ecosystems.

"This coyote had to find its way through a challenging and dense urban landscape to get to a beautiful but modest park, where it could take a breather," Peabody said. "It drew my respect, my sympathy and my curiosity."

Lt. Le-Ellis Brown, who keeps track of coyotes for the city's Animal Care and Control agency, says reports of attacks on humans are virtually nonexistent, though they have been known to chase unleashed dogs and prey upon the occasional cat. He said about half the calls the agency receives about coyotes are complaints related to the callers' pets, while the rest are reports of coyote sightings.

Advertisement'); var debugadcode = ''; document.write(debugadcode);

"I think a lot of people know it's kind of cool to see a coyote," Brown said.

But others who frequent the parks or live near coyote habitats say the animals are an unwelcome addition to the urban landscape.

Holly Davidson, a resident of the Presidio, said she frequently encounters coyotes in neighbors' yards when out walking with her yellow Labrador and 3-year-old son.

"These days we see them all the time. They are everywhere and have become an aggressive pest," she said.

"There are people whose attitude is, 'Get them out of here,'" said Sally Stephens, chair of San Francisco Dog Owners, a nonprofit with about 900 paying members. "I know people who have modified their use of the parks by coming at times of day when coyotes are less likely to be out and about."

But Stephens said she thinks most people ? including most dog owners ? are either unaware or accepting of the coyotes. The city has done a good job educating residents about the dangers of allowing dogs to roam off-leash in coyote habitats and the importance of maintaining a safe distance from the animals, she said.

A mated pair of coyotes living in Golden Gate Park were shot and killed by officials from the U.S. Department of Agriculture four years ago after they reportedly charged a pair of dogs. Animal control later said the coyotes appeared to have been regularly fed by humans, which is illegal in San Francisco.

Nine days after the shootings, a coyote pup was found dead nearby after apparently being hit by a car.

The urban coyotes' origins have been a source of considerable speculation. Some wonder whether they were planted by humans to help manage the city's populations of feral cats, gophers and other small animals. Others suggest they always have been there and have only become more visible as the city eliminates protective brush and plant life from the parks.

Initially, wildlife experts assumed the coyote spotted in 2001 traveled to the Presidio from the south ? the only side of the city not bordered by water. But researchers from the University of California, Davis and the U.S. Geological Survey obtained a blood sample from the animal that revealed it came from a population based at least 12 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge.

While it was conceivable that a human transported the animal to the city, the most likely explanation was that it crossed the bridge on its own, the researchers concluded.

However they got to San Francisco, the coyotes are now a fact of life and city residents must learn to coexist with the creatures, advocates say.

Kessler said she hopes her photographs, as well as a website and blog she has created, will expose people to the beauty and majesty of the animals and clear up misconceptions.

"Rumors are the thing that's going to hurt the coyotes the most," she said. "People have to learn that the coyotes are not going to hurt them. Slowly, hopefully, that kind of negative thinking will change."

Sheen announces 'My Violent Torpedo of Truth' live tour

Charlie Sheen will bring his antics to live audiences in Detroit and Chicago, starting April 2.

Gifford/FilmMagic

Charlie Sheen will bring his antics to live audiences in Detroit and Chicago, starting April 2.

Charlie Sheen wasn't bluffing when he said he wanted to tour the country with a live show.

The self-proclaimed "warlock" has already booked two gigs.

"Fastball; My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option Show LIVE Detroit/Chicago on sale Sat," Sheen tweeted Thursday.

With a link to Ticketmaster.com, the actor promised his shows would provide "the REAL story" ? of what, he didn't make clear.

According to Ticketmaster, Sheen, 45, will appear at Detroit's Fox Theatre on April 2 and at The Chicago Theatre the next night.

Ticket prices range from $35 each to $69.50, but the site warns the event is "for mature audiences 18+ over."

Sheen's description of the show provides more questions than answers.

"Will there be surprises? Will there be guests? Will there be mayhem? Will you ask questions? Will you laugh? Will you scream? Will you know the truth? WILL THERE BE MORE?!?!" he asked.

"This IS where you will hear the REAL story from the Warlock," Sheen wrote. "Bring it. I dare you to keep up with me."

But that's not all the recently fired star of "Two and a Half Men" has up his sleeve.

He wants to tell his combustible life story, said executives at three publishing houses who asked not to be identified, citing the sensitive nature of the project.

Two of the publishers said Thursday that the book had the working title "Apocalypse Me," a reference to "Apocalypse Now," the Francis Ford Coppola film starring Sheen's father, Martin Sheen.

Charlie Sheen has said he is obsessed by the film, which takes Joseph Conrad's classic novella of madness, "Heart of Darkness," and changes the setting from Africa to Vietnam.

The publishers who spoke to The Associated Press all said they turned down the memoir and expressed amazement anyone would take it, even if a finished work would likely be a best-seller.

They cited Sheen's public rants and chaotic private life, including a history of accusations of domestic violence. And Sheen has filed a $100 million lawsuit against Warner Bros. and the executive producer of "Two and a Half Men," and he might be restricted in what he could say about the program.

The industry has been wary of such polarizing books since the fiasco of O.J. Simpson's "If I Did It." The book was promoted in 2006 by the HarperCollins imprint ReganBooks as a fictionalized confession to the murder of Simpson's former wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.

The announcement caused such outrage that the book was pulled before publication by publisher's parent company, News Corp. ReganBooks has since been disbanded and its founder, Judith Regan, is no longer in the book business.

Sheen is being represented by agent Peter McGuigan, who is asking for payment of at least seven figures, said the publishers, who added that there was no written proposal. Sheen has boasted that he could get $10 million for a memoir.

McGuigan did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press seeking comment. He is an agent with Foundry & Media and his company biography states that he is "happiest when representing controversial, out-of-the-ordinary or provocative subjects and authors."

Nicole Scherzinger: Cheryl Cole's Newcastle accent is charming

Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger loves hearing Cheryl Cole's voice

Nicole Scherzinger was a guest judge on The UK X Factor

Both Nicole Scherzinger and Cheryl Cole would love to sit by Simon Cowell's side on The US X Factor judging panel, but it looks as if the Pussycat Doll has more of a chance than our feisty Geordie.

Fox TV bosses are said to be worried that American audiences will struggle to understand Cheryl, 27 - so she's reportedly working with a voice coach.

'I think that her accent is charming,' says US beauty Nicole, 32.

'It probably sounds a lot more fun and interesting to listen to her than me do my southern slang!'

Even so, Nicole's keen for Simon, 51, to give her the job.

'I've put a lot of thought into it,' she told Heart Radio.

'I had my reservations because it's such a huge commitment but I think I would like to do it if it was meant to be.

'If it's supposed to work out, then it will, that's how I feel about it.

'We'll see. I'm a strong believer in everything is meant to be for a reason.'

Kate Middleton's Secret to Flawless, Radiant Skin

It's been another busy week for Prince William and Kate Middleton. Not only have they had public appearances to fulfill (flipping pancakes in northern Ireland on Tuesday!), there's also been heaps more wedding planning.

As I first reported last week, the couple have finalized their song selections for the wedding ceremony. So it was no surprise to see them drive from Clarence House to Westminster Abbey with Prince Charles on Monday to hear some of the choices.

PHOTOS: Kate's stunning style evolution

The couple spent over an hour enjoying songs from a young choir and an 18-piece orchestra. And, with the paparazzi stuck outside, I'm told they comfortably snuggled in the pews (it can drop to near-freezing temperatures inside the church at night!).

One thing I'm often asked is how Kate, 29, looks in the flesh. She is, of course, beautiful. Slim, radiant, appropriately dressed -- every inch the princess-to-be that you would hope for.

PHOTOS: The most stunning royal wedding dresses ever

When I saw Kate at St. Andrews University in Scotland last month, I couldn't help but notice her flawless skin -- she barely had an ounce of makeup on.

I'm told her secret comes from a small Swiss cosmetics company, founded by facialist Karin Herzog. "Kate's a fan," a Karin Herzog company rep tells UsMagazine.com of the oxygen charged products. "She particularly likes the Vita-Kombi Day and Night cream," which sells for about $88.

PHOTOS: How Kate and Prince William fell in love

Also in Kate's beauty cabinet? Products from her salon of choice : Richard Ward volume boosting shampoo and conditioner, and Richard Ward 'Stay Straight and Protect' spritz. Her sister (and Maid of Honor) Pippa Middleton is also a fan.

And it's not just Kate who is busy beautifying for the big day. Reports in the UK suggest that Queen Elizabeth has her personal couturier working on three different outfits for April 29.

PHOTOS: Whose royal marriage lasted?

A royal aide confirms to Us that Angela Kelly (curator in jewelery, insignia and wardrobe) will be one of the designers responsible for dressing her majesty, who turns 85 next month. Buckingham Palace won't confirm or deny, but let's face it: when you're the Queen you can wear pretty much whatever the heck you want!

By Omid Scobie, European Bureau Chief, for UsMagazine.com.

Justin Bieber's turning the UK into Beliebers

Never Say Never star Justin Bieber is dating gorgeous Disney actress Selena Gomez - but Justin will be taking things slowly.

Selena, 18, has worn a purity ring since she was 12 and the pair share strong Christian views.

'I don't think you should have sex with anyone unless you love them,' says Justin, 17, who's currently on tour in the UK.

'I think you should just wait for the person you're...in love with.'

Justin's single mum Pattie Mallette became an evangelical Christian after giving birth to the teen sensation at the age of 18.

'She was a good person but she made mistakes,' he tells You. 'She changed her life around because of me.'
